GIANLUCA DI IOIA
The exhibition presents ten selected works, including villas, a hospitality hub, a theater, a gallery, a store, a portal, a loggia, and a public garden. These projects span Italy and beyond, blending with historic structures, rural landscapes, cities, suburbs, and small towns. The scale varies, but quality is not defined by size. Only completed or under-construction works were chosen, emphasizing that physical realization is central to architecture, even though its value extends beyond the built form.
SuperSpatial has been invited by the curators to represent its Borgo Ognissanti project in Florence through a symbolic metal model, which distills the essence of a showroom into its simplest form. Unlike the models the office typically uses to study and develop projects, this model takes an inverse approach. It does not aim to materialize a concept but instead starts from an existing space and simplifies it for those unfamiliar with it. Creating the model becomes a tool for self-critique and analysis, stripping the project back to its core idea and removing unnecessary complexity.
