With the expansion project, the Museo del Novecento becomes even more integrated into the cultural axis between Piazza della Scala and Piazza Diaz. The artworks displayed in the museum spaces and under the terrace become the ideal conclusion to the Galleria, creating a dialogue between theater, salon, square, and museum. The project aims to decisively insert itself into this context from both a functional and programmatic perspective, anticipating the conclusion of this urban axis, which today ends with the Martini Tower. The project is both delicate in its formal and visual aspects, respectful of the modern Milan visible from Piazza Duomo. Instead of obscuring the view of the Martini Tower and the Velasca Tower with a connection at the height of the last two levels, the proposed project reconnects the base of the arengari, fostering interaction with the square at ground level and preserving the view of the towers from Piazza Duomo. In fact, it frames them with a new base from which they gracefully emerge.
