A "house" open to the city and the world.  If the entire project had to be simplified with a single intention, it would be that of openness. The reopening of a part of the historic fabric, a void that can once again welcome the city into itself. The idea of openness also becomes the guiding thread for rethinking the spaces of the student housing, as the perfect opportunity for a typology that particularly lends itself to experimenting with innovative ways of living on the border between public and domestic space.
Palazzo Frisini, thanks to a few simple actions of "emptying" and opening the historic structure, becomes a true point of reference within the city. A space that can transform the neighborhood and the territory, thanks to the continuous exchange between students and citizens.
The project is a gradient of privacy and sociability, a complex system where the perfect balance between social relationships and the tranquility of domestic spaces will be sought.
For this reason, the ground floor becomes an extension of the urban space, blurring the boundary between student housing and the city. At this level, the spaces are distributed around the internal courtyard, spaces that can be shared with the citizens, such as the co-working area, the cafeteria, or the periodicals library, and spaces that are shared with students not residing in the student housing, such as meeting rooms or study halls.
A large void becomes the main distribution element, guiding students to the upper floors. On these levels, the rooms are organized around common spaces overlooking the courtyard, such as kitchens or living-study areas. The roof becomes once again a fully collective and partially public space, dedicated to students and, for certain events, open to the entire city.
